The Mississippi DOT’s Outdoor Advertising System by Smart Data Strategies Goes Live
 
July 2008: Smart Data Strategies, Inc., a leading provider of GIS software products and services for local, state, and federal government agencies, announces the official launch of the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) web-based Outdoor Advertising (ODA) System.  The system is hosted at Smart Data Strategies Franklin, TN facility and provides MDOT with web-based access for permit management, reporting, document imaging, and integration with Google Maps.  The system also includes executive and management dashboard views for monitoring and reporting where permits are in the application process.  
The project included the configuration of Smart Data Strategies commercial-off-the-shelf DREAMaps™ software suite to meet specific MDOT workflow needs, as well as the scanning and organizing 78,000 documents and inventorying 8000 signs from across the state.
The MDOT Maintenance Division oversees the Outdoor Advertising Program statewide, which includes six district offices.  Smart Data Strategies is thrilled that MDOT recognized DREAMaps™ as the best solution for their outdoor advertising needs.  DREAMaps, a web-based, GIS enabled suite built on ESRI technology, has been implemented in multiple State Departments of Transportation across the nation, including Nevada, Illinois, and Washington.
