Overview
The Introduction to Mapper Desktop Course is a five day course designed
to apply basic mapping techniques with the power of the Smart Data Strategies'
Mapper software application. The course will cover all aspects of Mapper.
The class will be instructed by focusing on editing data
models as a whole and how a variety of GIS elements play a role in those data models.
The class will discuss basic editing techniques and be instructed in hands-on labs
working with the GIS elements that comprise the general parcel data model.
The primary goal will be to demonstrate and use GIS techniques in order to maintain an efficient and accurate
parcel data model.
Goals
- To learn the basic tools and techniques available to the student through Mapper Desktop
- To gain a basic understanding of how to maintain the parcel data model with the tools provided
in Mapper Desktop by editing the elements that make up the parcel data model.
- To Perform Parcel Splits/Joins
- To Attribute Multiple Ownership to Parcels
- To Perform COGO routines
- To Import Data from other digital formats
- To Digitize in Mapper
- To gain a familiarity with topology classes and the tools that allows us to maintain topological
relationships in Mapper Desktop.
Requirements/Prerequisites
- Mapper Desktop is designed for the ESRI Geodatabase model only (not Coverage/Librarian format)
